Institutional Context

The Lansing Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) is the City of Lansing’s public economic development entity responsible for structuring redevelopment tools, incentives, and public–private partnerships requiring legislative approval and public notice. Through board and City Council action, LEDC-related decisions authorize and unlock hundreds of millions to billions of dollars in private investment through brownfield plans, tax abatements, and incentive structures shaping housing delivery, job creation, and the city’s long-term tax base.

Role & Governance Mandate

As a Lansing City Council At-Large Member, Brown exercised governance oversight through confirmation of appointments to LEDC and related boards and through Council approval of economic development actions requiring public notice and legislative authorization.
